Document Your Ideas
- 2D Drawing Tools
AutoCAD LT drafting and detailing software allows you to use standard shapes such as lines, polygons, arcs, circles and ellipses to create simple or complex 2D drawings.
- Editing Tools
Modify existing geometry with commands such as Stretch, Scale and Rotate that change an object's shape, size or location. Create new objects from existing ones easily with commands such as Copy, Offset and Mirror. Use the Align command to match the position, scale and rotation of two objects.
- Annotation Tools
Complete your 2D drawings with annotations such as text, dimensions and hatches. Text tools include word processor formatting options, spell check and fields that display referenced object and drawing properties. Multileaders enable you to add notes and callouts to specific objects. Intelligent dimensions display distances, angles and arc lengths. You can scale annotations automatically so that they are always the correct size for the current drawing scale. Use hatches in a variety of patterns and fills to highlight important areas in your 2D drawings.
- Associative Arrays - IMPROVED
Associative arrays add significant and time-saving functionality by enabling the maintenance of relationships between arrayed objects. New enhancements, including a contextual ribbon tab during array creation, enable you to create objects in a pattern faster and more easily. With path arrays, you can also specify whether to maintain a fixed number of objects or to adjust the count automatically based on path length and item spacing.
- Text Styles - IMPROVED
A new "strikethrough" style has been added to the editor for text, multileaders, dimensions and tables. This complements the underline and overline options previously available in AutoCAD LT drafting software.
- Edit Object Properties
The Properties palette enables you to view and modify the properties of selected objects. In Windows, the Quick Properties window appears upon double-clicking an object and provides a shorter, customisable list of properties. In Mac OS X, the Essentials view of the Properties Inspector serves a similar function.
- Hatch Objects
Access the Hatch command easily through a contextual user interface, similar to the display for Tables and Multiline Text. Multifunctional grips enable direct editing of a hatch's scale, rotation and origin. Additional options for controlling the appearance of hatches include transparency, background colours and gradient fills.
- Edit Multiple Hatch Objects - IMPROVED
The Hatch Edit contextual ribbon tab and visor now accommodate multiple selected hatch objects, enabling you to perform edits more quickly.
- Object & Layer Transparency
Display 2D drawing geometry with more flexibility by applying transparency to layers or objects. The ability to vary the transparency of objects or layers provides control over the on-screen and plotted appearance of your drawings.
- Delete Duplicate Objects
Clean up your drawings and increase performance by removing redundant geometry with the Delete Duplicates tool, which also eliminates unnecessary vertices in polylines and combines overlapping or end-to-end lines.
- Quick Dimension
Dimension selected objects quickly and easily with the Quick Dimension tool.
- Sketch Command
Use the Sketch command to draw 2D freehand objects, easily generating irregular shapes or boundaries.
- Blend Objects
The Blend tool creates a spline that joins two curves smoothly. Blend is supported for lines, arcs, elliptical arcs, polylines and splines.
- Copy Array
The Copy tool includes an Array option that enables you to create a linear non-associative array quickly.
- Nudge Objects
Move objects quickly and easily a few pixels at a time with Nudge functionality. Simply select the objects, then press Ctrl and the appropriate arrow key.
- Organise Information in Tables
Create tables that can be resized and modified easily, and perform calculations using formulae similar to those in your favourite spreadsheet software.
- Views & Viewports
Save specified views by name and restore them for layouts and plotting or when you need to refer to specific details. Use viewports of any size, shape and rotation to show multiple areas of your drawing on one layout.
- Dynamic Blocks
Dynamic blocks incorporate variable properties that enable CAD blocks to accommodate different sizes and shapes. Both kinds of blocks are useful for creating repeated content, such as drawing symbols or standard components. Use the blocks provided with AutoCAD LT CAD software or create your own. (Note that while dynamic blocks can be used in AutoCAD LT for Mac, they cannot be created or edited.)
- Parametric Constraints
While AutoCAD LT drafting software cannot create parametric constraints, it can view, use or delete them if the parametric constraints were previously created with AutoCAD software.
- Data Links (Windows only)
Link AutoCAD LT tables to Microsoft Excel files with the Data Link command. Update your drawing easily from your spreadsheet or vice versa, reducing redundant data entry.
- Quick Select (Windows only)
Quick Select enables you to create selection sets of geometry based on object properties or type. For example, you can select all red circles in a drawing or all objects except red circles.
- Hyperlinks (Windows only)
Attach hyperlinks to any graphical object in an AutoCAD LT drawing to provide connections to other associated files, such as drawings, project schedules or web pages.
Collaborate with Others
- Autodesk 360 Access - NEW (Windows only)

- Sheet Set Manager / Project Manager - IMPROVED
The Sheet Set Manager (Project Manager in AutoCAD LT for Mac) organises your drawing sheets, reduces steps to publish, creates layout views automatically, links sheet set information into title blocks and plot stamps, and performs tasks across a sheet set so that everything is in one convenient place.
- DWG File Format - UPDATED
Using DWG technology from Autodesk, you can save and share DWG files, helping to keep the integrity and reliability of your data intact. AutoCAD LT 2013 software introduces an updated file format to accommodate technology and performance improvements in the software; however, it is also backwards compatible with all previous versions of AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD drafting software. AutoCAD LT 2013 allows you to save drawings in a wide variety of other formats, ranging back to R14 DWG and R12 DXF.
- AutoCAD Interoperability
AutoCAD LT 2013 software is built with the same technology as AutoCAD 2013 software and is interoperable with industry-specific AutoCAD-based software products.
- External References
Co-ordinate with team members by using external references linked to your current 2D drawing. Update an externally referenced file and those changes are reflected in the host drawing. Use external references to co-ordinate with team members and minimise redundancy in a drawing set.
- External Reference Paths - IMPROVED
With the new Default Reference Path option, files attached to drawings as underlays or external references are now given a relative path by default, defining their location in relation to the host drawing. This enables AutoCAD LT to maintain links more easily if files or folders are moved.
- Built-in PDF Output
Publish, plot or export high-quality PDF files directly from AutoCAD LT. TrueType fonts in a drawing are exported as text, enabling you to highlight, search and copy text in the PDF viewer.
- PDF Underlay - IMPROVED
Share and reuse designs by using PDF files as underlays in your AutoCAD LT 2D drawings (now also available in AutoCAD LT for Mac). If the PDF is vector-based, you can snap to key points on its geometry just as you would with a DWG file reference, increasing your speed and accuracy in tracing the PDF.
- Publish & Plot
The Publish command enables you to create a multisheet electronic file or a paper drawing set by publishing the drawings to the plotter named in each layout's page setup. Use the Plot command to print drawings one at a time to a variety of formats.
- eTransmit (Windows only)
Send electronic drawing sets with confidence using eTransmit. Transmittal packages created with eTransmit automatically include all related dependent files, such as external references and font files, reducing the likelihood that information will be left out.
